Bolt action repeating rifle fed by an internal box magazine mounting adjustable rear notch and dovetailed inverted-V front sights. Left receiver shows the Gothic letter model marking Gew. 98. with the top of the receiver bearing the maker marking DEUTSCHE WAFFEN-UND/MUNITIONSFABRIKEN/BERLIN/1915. The rifle shows a barrel gauge marking of 7.91, and exhibits the Imperial German {Reichsadler} mark to the left receiver by the serial number. Gothic letter inspection markings appear on the right receiver and scattered to small parts. Letter S has been struck into the top of the rear barrel. Serial numbers do not match.
