A Chinese Fahua Porcelain Incense Burner and Cover

Ming Dynasty (1368-1644)

明 法華三足大香爐
having a heavily potted body with a waisted neck, supported by ochre-glazed cabriole tripod legs molded with bearded masks, terminating in upturned u-form handles and surmounted by a domed covered terminating in a fu lion idling with a ball. The octagonal faceted body applied with opposing molded handles and rosettes, the waist impressed with lotus, with a petal lappet band at the shoulder.
Height 23 in., 58.5 cm.
