Lot Description
A 'Middletown Democratic Club' Sign
Likely Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Early 20th Century
50 1/2 x 48 inches.
Local newspapers from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania record the activities of the Middletown Democratic Club throughout the first quarter of the twentieth century, the earliest of which was documented in October 1900. A lively lineup of speakers was engaged for an evening program concerned with the "evils of industrial and commercial trusts," which aimed to inspire a "'grand rally'. . . of all the democratic clubs throughout the country" (Harrisburg Daily Independent, October 10, 1900, Evening Edition, p. 1).
Property from the Robert and Nancy Treichler Collection of Ohio Stoneware and Americana, Tallmadge, Ohio
