Lot Description

A Printed Broadside Highlighting an Operatic Performance by Soprano Anna Bishop at the Academy of Music
1861

letterpress on paper
the program includes a key scene from Tancredi, followed by a full performance of the Bohemian Girl, both starring Anna Bishop (1810-1884), who closed the evening with a stirring rendition of "Flag of our Union."
also with the final American appearance of French acrobat Blondin, called the "Hero of Niagara" for his daredevil stunts at Niagara Falls.

We have been unable to locate the 'Academy of Music,' though at the time of this production, the conductor, Carl Anschutz, was living in New York City and served as head of the Arion Society.
