The five-act play Lancashire Lass began its tour of Ohio in the late 1860s, running alongside other popular musical and theatrical acts in cities including Cincinnati, Canton, Troy, and Ravenna. Reed's Opera House was the first such venue in Portage County and was named for Probate Judge Cornelius A. Reed (1838-1929), who endowed its construction.
