7.62x54mmR. 20" barrel length. SN: F5770. Blued or parkerized dull military finish. Hardwood stock has a plain straight grip and forearm, with hand grooves to both sides and double barrel bands. Bolt action rifle with adjustable tangent notch rear sight and globe post front sight. Item features an integrated magazine, fixed spike bayonet, and sling slots to stock. Receiver is marked with Arsenal 26 triangle marking over a 1960 date and serial number. Serial number on receiver and bolt are matching. Floorplate of magazine has a different serial number and shows an Izhevsk Arsenal Soviet proof. Does not show any import markings, possibly a bring-back from the Vietnam War.

The Chinese Type 53 carbine was a licensed copy of the Soviet M44 Mosin-Nagant carbine, intended to be used by China's People's Liberation Army (PLA). However, by the time the Type 53 was issued for service in 1953, the Korean War was already over and they were replaced by SKS and AK-47 rifles. The Type 53 mostly saw combat use in the hands North Vietnamese troops and Viet-Cong guerillas, among other insurgent forces in Africa and Latin America.
