Metallic cartridge bolt action repeating rifle with tubular, under barrel magazine, military ladder rear sight, post and blade front sight and knife bayonet lug on the upper barrel band. Receiver with SPANDAU arsenal marking, Imperial German proof and inspection marks, and an 1888 manufacturing date. Imperial inspection marks in stock as well. Matching serial numbers throughout. Retains both sling swivels.

A very nice example of the first repeating military Mauser rifle, made on the eve of its replacement by the Model 1888 Commission Rifle.
