Two Cyclist's Porcelain Shaving Mugs
Late 19th/Early 20th Century
comprising an example identified R. C. Knight in gilt lettering and depicting a standing cyclist, and an example identified Emmett Conrad in gilt lettering and depicting a 'Hunter' model gentleman's bicycle.
underside of each marked T&V / Limoges / France.
Height of larger 4 inches.
Hunter bicycles were manufactured by the Hunter Arms Company of Fulton, New York as early as 1895. Famous for their L. C. Smith guns, the firm hoped this crossover would "acquaint gunners with their wheel and wheelmen with their guns." (Sporting Life, December 21, 1895).
