Lot Description

Two needlework samplers ann baker, 1824

The first with meandering berried vine enclosing spot devices of bees, birds, potted plants and baskets of fruit, a virtuous verse and "Ann Baker Aged 10 Year 1824," worked in hunter green, sepia, bittersweet and off white silk threads on a linen ground; the second with diamond motif borders enclosing rows of alphabet and numbers and spot devIces of trees, flowers and a flowering urn, worked in powder blue, bittersweet, mint green and off white silk threads on a wool ground.
