Lot Description
Fine and impressive Meiji Kyoto Satsuma earthenware vase 19th century, gold seal mark signed kyoto, possibly shoho takara honzan
With shogun chest, possibly depicting the tale of Genji, of baluster form, heavily gilded body, the slightly bulbous mouth leads to a pair of applied bird-form handles, the neck is painted with a patchwork of gold, red, blue and brown leading to a body finely painted to show a phoenix in flight above a detailed landscape and figures to one side and a winter landscape and figures in reverse, roman key border to base.
