Lot Description
Large American silver plate centerpiece, Possibly by the Meriden Britannia Co. late 19th century
The domed central corona beneath a center column surmounted by a lobed dish and four outscrolling arms all with with pendant lobed dishes, supported on four columnar supports, further raised on a shaped rectangular base mounted with figures of Neptune and Galatea being led by sea creatures, bears presentation plaque from the government of Bolivia. Note: The Meriden Britannia Co. founded in 1852 in Meriden, Connecticut, produced a wide range of silver plate wares including centerpieces bearing similarities to the present lot.
