the painted portrait inscribed in pen, Mrs Hannah Carpenter painted by her sister in law Mrs. Meriva Carpenter in 1842 Hannah daughter of Amos and Sarah (Leicester) Peasly was born Oct' 17th 1800 in Epping Rockingham Co. New Hampshire Settled in DeRuyter Madison Co. N.Y. in 1817 was married to Delford son of Doct' Ruggles and Juliana (Paines) Carpenter in Sept. 16th 1842 was widowed Sept 30th 1843, reverse of the paper backing
housed together in an embossed leather case with detached spine, along with a lock of Hannah's hair
