Lot Description
A Folk Art Carved Pine Group of Lumberjacks
Henry Dkyer, Granville, Ohio, Second Quarter 20th Century
inscribed on verso Henry Dyker Grdville, Ohio, the carving depicts a lumberjack holding a peavy standing behind log with two other figures standing on an elevated block in the foreground, one holding a small ledger.
Height 14 3/4 x width 10 1/4 x depth 6 inches.
Henry Dyker was born on November 22, 1891 in Murray City (Hocking County), Ohio. From mid-1918 until January 1919, Dyker served in the US Marine Corps. In the 1930 Census, he is listed as the foreman of General Farm. Ten years later, he is listed as the caretaker of another farm. Dyker passed away on March 24, 1974 in Granville, Ohio.
