According to the genealogical record, Etta Eldora Osborn was born on April 22, 1868, in Tunbridge, Orange County, Vermont to Webster and Betsey Ann Colby Osborn.  She married Fred Willis Noyes, a farmer, on June 7, 1885, in Hanover, New Hampshire, and the couple had two children, George Webster Noyes and Nellie Estella Noyes Howard. By 1910, Etta and Fred appear to have divorced, as she was living with her daughter's family per the U.S. Federal Census of that year. On June 26, 1918, Etta remarried, and her wedding to Robert E. Loveland in Pittsford, Rutland County, Vermont is recorded in the Rutland Daily Herald. She died on March 13, 1957. Based on the inscription, it is likely that Etta Noyes received this painting as a gift and was not the artist herself.
