Kingsford (signature on flyleaf, 23 December 1849 and signature on title-page); J.K.P. (small pencil note on title-page).
FIRST EDITION of Nunn's account of his experience being stranded on Kerguelen Island, which was known to British seamen as Desolation Island at the time. Nunn was member to a party of crewmen from the ship Favorite who were stranded during a sealing expedition and left behind by the captain.
