Lot Description
[MARITIME -- MANUSCRIPTS]. Two manuscripts relating to English shipping, comprising:
1.
"A Muster Roll, or Account of the Crew." Partly printed logbook with annotations in manuscript for the "Alert" Schooner, J Holmes, Master, out of the port of Rye, 1841. Folio, 14 pages of annotations in black ink. Recording the name, age, place of birth, quality, place and time of entry and place and time of discharge of each man on the ship. With 3 letterpress sheets at the beginning: "An Act for the Relief and Support of Sick, Maimed, and Disabled Seaman, and the Widows and Children of such as shall be Killed, Slain, or Drowned in the Merchant Service." Contemporary boards, printed label on upper cover (covers detaching).
2.
"Journal of the Proceedings of the Honourable East-India Company's Ship Marquis Camden 1824 and 1825." Partly printed logbook accomplished in manuscript. Folio, approximately 100 leaves with annotations in black ink. Recording the 6th voyage of the ship, and tracking progress on the voyage to Bombay, the Straits of Malacca, China, Whampoa, St. Helena, and back towards England. With approximately 25 blank leaves at end. Modern leather.
