The Nativity worked in silk and chenille threads and watercolor on a silk ground, retains section of original eglomise with needleworker's initials "E.C' and date, original giltwood frame. The needlework is accompanied by a charcoal portrait of Jane Fletcher Williams ( 1783 -1852). Her husband, John Lancaster Williams, purchased this needlework at auction as a present to Jane who was a class mate of "E.C." The giltwood frame is similar to frames made for the Clapier Family.
