Lot Description

Silkwork picture harriet wells, attributed to misses patten school, hartford, connecticut circa 1812

"Jeptha Laments his Rash Vow," worked in silk, chenille and metallic threads and watercolor on a silk ground, printed label of "Spencer and Gilman Looking Glass Manufacturers, Main Street Hartford," on reverse. Together with pin prick and watercolor picture of an apple blossom, signed "Mifs Harriet Wells," and another sampler, " Harriet Well's Sampler aged eleven years" with rows of Alphabet and numerals above sentimental verse and single rose, and additional inscription "Harriet Wells born Sept 3rd, AD 1796, worked with silk threads on a linen ground.
