Lot Description

Louis XVI style Sevres 'bleu lapis taillandier et vert' sugar bowl and cover porcelain 1758-59

Decorated with alternating gilt enhanced cobalt blue and green spiral bands, the cover with a berry finial over a pierced gilt bronze mounted rim, the scrolling foliate handles issuing from rams' masks, raised on a spiral reeded support and a further square base, blue interlaced L's mark, incised T. Note: The dating of the porcelain in the present lot can be precisely given as 1758-59, the only years this combination of ground colors were produced.
