8vo. Original blue cloth-backed boards (spine slightly sunned, a few small stains); in unclipped dust jacket (restored, backed and repaired verso).
FIRST EDITION, SIGNED BY MORRISON. IN THE FIRST ISSUE DUST JACKET with close-up photograph of Morrison on the rear panel, priced “$5.95,” and with “1070” code on front flap. Initially, Morrison’s first novel, written when she was a professor at Howard University, received limited critical attention, however placement on several university reading lists promoted further recognition.
