FIRST AMERICAN EDITIONS. The three books in The Rosy Crucifixion trilogy were initially banned as obscene in the United States, along with Miller’s Tropic of Cancer; these bans were overturned in the 1964 Supreme Court case Grove Press v. Gerstein, and all four books were published for the first time in the United States by Grove Press the following year.
