Lot Description
[POLITICS]. "McKinley & Hobart. Sound Money & Protection." Presidential campaign banner, ca 1896.
Approx. 35 x 67 in. white cotton banner with hand-painted black letters, top edge hand-stitched to later brown cotton (staining throughout, few scattered holes, fraying, short tears, few areas of loss to edges). A scarce, hand-made banner created in support of William McKinley and Garret Hobart's 1896 run for president and vice president. The banner features the famous slogan "Sound Money & Protection," which was used frequently on flags, posters, ribbons, and buttons produced for the campaign.
This lot is located in Cincinnati.
