Lot Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. The Capitol, Washington, US. Ca 1870.
15 1/2 x 10 1/4 in. albumen photograph on 20 x 16 in. cardstock mount (rich tonality, light toning, light spotting to mount). Manuscript title at lower right. Uncredited, but tentatively attributed to photographer William Bell (1830-1910).
A view showing the east side of the United States Capitol, as seen from the northeast, following completion of the new dome and extensions. A small number of people and two horse-drawn carriages are included in the image, and signs of construction are evident.
