Lot Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. A trio of portraits of female subjects posed in profile.
Sixth plate daguerreotype bust portrait of a lovely woman posed in profile, her cheeks faintly tinted pink. She is tentatively identified as "Aunt Margaret Whitney" in case interior pencil inscription. (Tarnishing along edge, light weeping effect; original seals.) Housed in a fully separated pressed paper case (split at spine, no velvet pad). -- Quarter plate ambrotype full seated portrait of a woman posed in profile, her cheeks lightly tinted pink. She wears a shawl and holds a book in her lap, using her thumb to keep the page. (Some significant scratching and abrasions to upper and right portion of image; unsealed.) Housed in a fully separated pressed paper case (split at spine). -- Sixth plate tintype portrait of a young girl wearing an off-the-shoulder dress, her body posed in profile but her head turned to look at the camera. (Very minor imperfections to plate; partially resealed.) Housed in a pressed paper case (nearly separated at spine). -- Together, 3 cased images of female subjects posed in profile.
