Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. Muster and pay rolls for paroled prisoners at Annapolis, MD. 1864.
4 muster rolls of paroled prisoners of the Navy Yard Hospital, St. Johns Hospital, and Camp Parole, Annapolis, MD for muster and pay from 31 August to 31 October 1864. Muster rolls (left side of document) lists soldier and organization, while payroll (right side) features signatures of paroled prisoners with amounts received. Rolls dated from 3 to 36 December 1864. Each includes an inscribed note in "remarks" column stating that the special muster was made in according with Special Orders No. 419, at the suggestion of Acting Paymaster General Brice in a letter dated 25 November 1864. Each roll approx. 30 1/2 x 21 in. Conditions fair, with creasing along folds, some separation at crease intersections, spots of staining or ink smearing, some chipping to edges.
