Louis XVI style bonheur du jour by Poteau circa 1900
The raised back inset with three Sevres style porcelain panels over two small drawers, below are three further frieze drawers, raised on turned tapered legs united by a shaped stretcher, lock inscribed 'E. Poteau, Rue de Turenne 59, Paris'. H: 40, W: 40, D: 19 1/4 in.Footnote: According to Ledoux-Lebard, Edmond Pouteau was likely working at 9 rue Mignon from 1856 to 1874 before moving to the rue Turenne. His copy of Dubois' lacquer commode now in the Wallace Collection was donated to Versailles by his family in 1934.
