The Dead Zone was the first of King's novels to be ranked among the ten bestselling novels of the year, and was listed as the 82nd most banned and challenged book in the United States during the 1990s. It was adapted into a motion picture of the same name starring Christopher Walken and directed by David Cronenberg.
