8vo. (Light spotting throughout.) Original pictorial tan cloth, stamped in red and black, uncut (rubbing, light soiling); slipcase. Provenance: A.S. Rathbone (ownership inscription).
FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE with 33 pp. advertisements at rear and in Currey's (A) binding with monogram on rear board. The Island of Dr. Moreau has been adapted into film numerous times, perhaps most famously in 1932 as Island of Lost Souls starring Bela Lugosi as the Sayer of the Law.
