4to. 15 color-printed plates by Rackham tipped to mounts. (Light toning throughout.) Original vellum gilt, top edge gilt, others uncut (light soiling, lacking silk ties); custom white morocco-tipped slipcase.
LIMITED EDITION, one of 1000 copies, SIGNED BY RACKHAM. Undine was an immediate success upon its first publication in 1811, with a highly successful operatic adaptation produced five years later; key thematic elements influenced Hans Christian Andersen during his writing of The Little Mermaid.
