8vo. 51 color-printed plates tipped onto mounts by Rackham. Original vellum gilt, top edge gilt, others uncut (silk ribbons and endpapers replaced, light soiling); custom white morocco-tipped slipcase.
FIRST EDITION, LIMITED ISSUE, number 22 of 250 copies of the “Deluxe Edition,” SIGNED BY RACKHAM. Rip Van Winkle proved to be a turning point in Rackham's career, as it is the first Rackham-illustrated work to be issued in a limited edition and the first of his works to feature illustrations exclusively in color.
