8vo. Original pictorial tan cloth, stamped in red and black (spine slightly soiled, two parallel half-inch splits at head of spine, light soiling beside author’s name on cover).

FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE with 33pp. publisher’s advertisements at rear and in Currey’s (B) binding lacking monogram on rear board. The Island of Dr. Moreau has been adapted into film numerous times, most famously in 1932 as The Island of Lost Souls starring Bela Lugosi as the Sayer of the Law.
