4to. Color-printed frontispiece, 5 color-printed plates, numerous in-text illustrations. 20th-century green morocco gilt, stamp-signed by Zaehnsdorf; original front cover with printed paper label bound in.
FIRST TRADE EDITION. Potter wrote Fairy Caravan at the urging of her American publisher. According to Linder, "Potter did not wish for an English edition of The Fairy Caravan, because she felt the stories were 'too personal - too autobiographical'." Linder p. 431.
