Tissue letter copy book of Jonathan L. Whitaker, surgeon at Chester Hospital. Tissue copies of approx. 50 letters on approx. 80 leaves. Many letters relating to the Civil War & the medical treatment of wounded Confederate soldiers in the aftermath of the battle of Gettysburg. Whitaker mistakenly dated the last letter "1863."
