An Unusual Chinese Painted Grey Pottery Mythical Beast Stand
Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220)
東漢 灰陶彩繪辟邪
modeled as a crouching, winged mythical beast, with layered tail, upturned snout, pricked ears and a short mane extending to the rectangular aperture in the back, painted in red and black with feather markings and details on a cream-colored ground.
