Two Chinese 'Bogu' Silk Panels
Late 19th Century
清晚期 緙絲、綉花博古圖挂屏各一
comprising a large apricot ground example couched with gilt metallic threads and polychrome floss with a vertically organized composition of peonies presented in ornate vessels, paired peaches, and a mythical beast at play in crashing waves. The second kesi woven panel worked with close gilt threads with a similar motif of scholarly accoutrement spread across a lake blue ground.
