Lot Description
One of Paris’ most dynamic designers of the 80s and 90s, Thierry Mugler’s creations were always as dramatic and distinctive as they were luxurious. His haute couture shows were often huge spectacles that showcased his proclivity for theatrical styling coupled with a penchant for precise tailoring. His designs were celebrity favorites, having dressed the likes of Diana Ross, Madonna, and Grace Jones. Although retiring from his brand in 2002, Mugler’s hugely successful fragrance division remains to this day. In 2008, he reemerged back into the fashion spotlight to design the costumes for Beyonce’s “I Am…World Tour”, and again in 2019 to dress Kim Kardashian for the Met Gala.
Black polyester jacket and skirt. The jacket has a stand-up collar, long sleeves, two large pockets that accentuate the chest, and a three snap closures and faux bow tie at the waist with a draped hem. The jacket is pieced with alternating panels of black transparent crepe. The wrap skirt is made of sheer black fabric that is draped into the hips that secure with a three-snap closure.
