Lot Description

Two Textiles and One Pair of Gloves, 17th-18th Century

THE FIRST (Bottom left, first image)
Yellow satin fabric richly embroidered with green velvet, varying tan/yellow cords used as outlines, and raised fruits or flower pedals in silk threads.  The panel of fabric is raw cut around all edges and is embroidered onto a raw plant-cloth backing. The backside of the fabric shows two museum-style labels and there are also hand-written notes on the backside. All notes suggest the item was Italian or Spanish and from the 17th century. The satin is worn in many areas and shows numerous spots and marks.
Silk satin, silk velvet, silk cord
17" W x 24.25" L

THE SECOND (Top, first image)
Yellow/tan ground woven with green thread in a geometric and fauna pattern. One long side shows the selvage. The museum accession number remains attached to the fabric.
16.5" W x 54.5" L

THE THIRD
Pair of black/gray leather gloves with extended cuff covered with black silk and fine metalwork. Most of the black fabric on the cuff has worn away and there are a couple of split seams on the fingers. On the left glove is a metal and silk ribbon winding around the cuff. The cuff of the gloves appears to have been extended with a leather that is close, but not identical in color.
4"W x 9.75"L
