GOOD GEORGE II-STYLE MAHOGANY OPEN ARMCHAIR

Late 19th c.

The shaped toprail carved with curtain hung with tassel with eagle heads going into flowerhead-carved stiles flanking a cartouche-shaped joined splat with scallop shell, outswept shepherd's crook open arms with scrolled eagle heads going into acanthus-carved and gadrooned arm-supports, above a serpentine seat and apron, raised on foliate-carved cabriole legs headed by Satyrs mask-heads ending in hairy ball-and-claw feet. Seat originally caned. H: 38 1/2, W: 33 1/2, D: 23 in.
