Lot Description

[NATIVE AMERICANS]. 3 photographs of Mojave, Moqui, and Apache subjects. 

PARKER, Joseph C., photographer. Moqui Indians. Winslow, A-P.R.R. 4 1/4 x 7 1/16 in. photograph on 5 1/2 x 8 3/4 in. cardstock mount (toning to print, light soiling/spotting to mount). Numbered, titled, and credited to Parker in the negative. 3 subjects pose, seated and standing, in traditional garb in front of a painted backdrop. Two of the subjects hold bows and arrows, the other holds nothing.

[With:] 5 x 8 in. (with margins) silver gelatin copy of a photograph by Parker, Mojave Indians at the Needles A-P.R.R. (some cracks to surface, light soiling and discoloration, wear to edges and corners). Numbered, titled, and credited to Parker in the negative. Two female subjects face one another, one sitting and one standing, both hold the same woven basket. -- 3 3/4 x 5 1/2 in. silver gelatin copy of a photograph titled Apache Chief (cracks to surface, toning, light wear to edges and corners). Titled in the negative. A male subject stands before a painted backdrop holding a long spear and decorated shield.
