Lot Description
HOLMES, Oliver Wendell (1841-1935). ALS, Beacon Street, November 1892.
Autograph letter signed ("Oliver Wendell Holmes"), to "My dear Miss Church." 296 Beacon Street [Boston], 11 November 1892. 1p, 4 1/2 x 7 in. (creasing, light toning and soil).
Holmes, who was serving at the time as an associate justice of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts, writes on his personal letterhead, in full: "The beautiful pinks have not lost their fragrance in memory, though their leaves may have faded. / Please accept my thanks for your pleasing reminder that the very slight favor I was privileged to afford you has received more than its due of gratitude."
