[POLITICS - CIVIL WAR]. 6 images, incl. Lincoln and views of Washington, DC, landmarks.


The lot is comprised of the following: 

5 CDVs, 2 1/4 x 3 3/4 in., or smaller, on cardstock mounts (toning to prints; some edge and corner wear to mounts). Subjects include: CDV after engraving of Abraham Lincoln. Cincinnati, OH: J. Winder & Co. and M. Carpenter, "Army Photographer" (very good overall, few minor chips to edges of print). -- CDV after lithograph/engraving of Mary Todd Lincoln. New York: E. & H.T. Anthony (loss to lower left corner of print and mount). -- CDV, retouched portrait of Andrew Johnson. Uncredited, with "Andrew Johnson, President of the United States" printed on verso. -- CDV of Edwin Stanton, Lincoln's Secretary of War. Uncredited (some spotting/soiling to print; mount corners rounded). -- CDV comprised of 2 images of Washington, DC, landmarks, including the Tremont House and the US Capitol. Uncredited (small puncture to lower right edge of print and mount; mount corners rounded). 

[With:] Lincoln Monument, Washington, DC, Designed and Executed by Clark Mills. Washington, DC: Clark Mills. 6 1/8 x 3 in. stereoview on cardstock mount (few scattered spots; some edge and corner wear to mount). Verso with printed title and details relative to Clark Mills' design for the Lincoln Monument, which was never built due to financial problems and political disputes.
