Lot Description

LEE, Fitzhugh (1835-1905). A group of 2 ALsS, comprising:


Autograph letter signed ("Fitz Lee"), addressed to "Mrs. Ayres," on "Westmoreland Club / Richmond, VA" letterhead. [Richmond], 22 October 1898. 2pp, 4 7/8 x 7 7/8 in. (folds, scattered marks, pencil notations). Lee responds to a note from Ayres indicating that "Mrs. Lee's condition is surely if slowly improving each day." He indicates she was sick with typhoid fever. Accompanied by envelope addressed to "Mrs. Capt. Ayres" in Washington, D.C.

Autograph letter signed ("Fitz Lee"), addressed to "My dr Maj Ayres and My dr Maj Tho-[mas?]" on "Hotel Baltimore / Kansas City, MO" letterhead. [Kansas City], 30 July 1903. 2pp, 4 7/8 x 6 1/4 in. (folds, scattered marks, pencil notations).  Lee writes, in part, that he has received their telegram and indicates his plans to head to Fort Riley to visit his friends Captain and Mrs. Slocum.
