Lot Description

[CIVIL WAR - ANTIETAM]. BRADY, Mathew (1822-1896), photographer. A group of 6 CDVs of Union generals known for their actions at Antietam, incl. RICHARDSON, HARTSUFF, SEDGWICK, CRAWFORD, and CALDWELL. 


Israel B. Richardson, mortally WIA at Antietam, died 11/3/1862 at Sharpsburg, MD (few stains/spots to print). -- George L. Hartsuff, WIA at Antietam (occasional spotting). -- John Sedgwick, WIA 3 times at Antietam, KIA at Spotsylvania Court House 5/9/1864 (few small stains/spots to print; edge and corner wear to mount including small imperfection near top edge). -- Samuel Wylie Crawford, Jr., WIA at Antietam, served with distinction at Gettysburg (minor curve to print and mount). -- John C. Caldwell, WIA at Antietam. -- Nathan Kimball, who led the 1st Brigade of General French’s Division in desperate fighting at the Sunken Road at Antietam, eventually taking the road (few minor spots/stains). 

Together, 6 CDVs, each with Brady's Washington, DC, imprint on mount recto and/or verso. Condition generally good, most with minor curve to print and mount.
