Lot Description
[NATIVE AMERICANS]. BAILEY, DIX, & MEAD, photographers. A group of 3 cabinet cards featuring Sitting Bull, Steps, and One Bull. Fort Randall, Dakota Territory, 1882.
Approx. 4 x 6 in. cabinet photographs on cardstock mounts (good tonality; very light bumping to mount edges and corners). Mount rectos with printed copyright information. Versos with printed number, title, biographical information of subject, list of titles in series, and Bailey, Dix, & Mead credit.
One Bull was a nephew of Sitting Bull, and a skilled warrior. The biographical description notes that he had to be knocked down and carried aboard a boat to be brought as a prisoner to Fort Randall. Steps was a Nez Perce who joined Sitting Bull's band of Uncpapa Sioux after escaping from his band in Nebraska ca 1878.
