GRANT, Ulysses S (1822-1885). Autograph note of regret. 6 February 1881.
4 1/2 x 4 1/2 in., creased, with approx. 7/8 in. separation extending inward from right edge, some staining and possible adhesive residue to corners of verso, and clipped edges.
In full: "General Grant regrets that an old engagement for the 17th of February will prevent his acceptance of Mr. Henry M. Alexander's kind invitation to meet Ser Peabody of Boston in that day at Dinner[?]"
