Early American Hand-Colored Printed Playing Cards. Philadelphia: Anthony Chardon, American [Paper] Manufacturer, n.d. [ca. 1794-1815]. 41 cards. Moderate wear & dust soiling, a few corners clipped - with no loss of design elements. Lacking the 5 & 10 of spades, the 3 of hearts, the 3, 5, 7 & 8 of diamonds and the 2, 7, 8 & 9 of clubs. Chardon's imprint, an American Eagle & other design motifs are printed on a card that may have served as the ace of spades. The number cards hand-colored in red or black, face cards in red, black, yellow & blue. Ink inscription dated 1815 on verso of 8 of hearts.
