Folio, late 19th-century full gilt-lettered blue morocco, inner dentelles gilt, a.e.g.; slightly scuffed, by Riviere & Son. Contents skillfully repaired, title-page repaired & restored, with several words skillfully supplied (including part of the imprint & the upper fore-edge portion of the leaf), other skillful repairs, with letters & words occasionally supplied. Leather bookplate of Frank C. Deering on front paste-down.
This rare first tract by William Penn promoting his new colony of Pennsylvania, which was written just after he received the royal charter (March 4, 1681), is also the first extended account of what is now Pennsylvania. A tall, but expertly repaired, restored & washed copy with Frank C. Deering's bookplate.
