George Folsom, Art Editor & cartoonist for Joseph Pulitzer's New York World engaged in an illustrated correspondence with his cousin Walter E. McDougal, engraver for Durand Company of Newark, N.J. The scrapbook holds 71 mounted, finely executed Pen & Ink (with occasional wash) illustrated envelopes by Folsom mailed to McDougal, richly detailed with numerous humerous & topical subjects (incl. Domestic & Sporting vignettes - incl. Baseball, African-American & Jewish Stereotypes, Railroading, Costume & many other genre & whimsical vignettes). Also holding 2 watercolor illustrated envelopes by McDougal mailed to Folsom; 5 unmounted unmailed watercolor illustrated envelopes by Folsom & related illustrated envelopes.
