Lot Description

Two Japanese Bronze Vases
20th Century

the first having a baluster body with rouneded, broad shoulders, tapering to a spreading foot, a dished mouth, the exterior cast with two registers showing phoenix birds, kirin, dragons, turtles and elephants alternating above Chinese archaitisc motifs, the underside case with a nine-character mark; the second the compressed body above spreading foot decorated with lappet leaves, the tall cylindrical neck mounted with two concentric rings and decorated with mythical beast-masks, flanked by a pair of phoenix bird-form handles, surmounted by a flared mouth. 
Height of taller 15 1/4 in., 38.7 cm.
