A Sèvres Porcelain Teapot and Cover (Théière 'Calabre' et sa Couvercle, 1ère Grandeur)
Circa 1780

bearing blue interlaced Ls enclosing date letters cc below painter's mark of a comma for Méreaud le jeune and incised 6/D; the oviform pot with angled spout, ear handle and slightly domed cover with gilt berry finial, painted with scattered flowers, the shoulder with a blue ribbon entwined with a berried vine and enclosing flowerheads below an orange ground border gilt with oeil-de-perdrix at the mouth of the pot and cover rim.
Height 5 1/8 x width 6 1/4 inches.
